Annual Coat Drive
For the past 5 years, the Cherokee County Homeless Veterans Program has hosted an annual coat drive for homeless Veterans. They have collected 17K+ coats to date. Veteran Service rganizations from GA and neighboring states come on distribution day to bring these coats to the veterans in their community. These coats are collected as fast as they are sorted.

Breakfast With Santa
We provide an annual Breakfast With Santa event where we share a meal, children can meet santa, and gifts are distributed to veterans and their families.

The 2025 Breakfast with Santa will be held on Saturday December 6, 2025.

Our Programs Make a Difference

ADOPT A VETERAN

Through donations and our corporate partners, we "adopt" veteran families and senior veterans during the holidays. We provide social activities such as a pancake breakfast and pictures with Santa, food, clothing, and Christmas presents.

COAT DRIVE PROGRAM & CHRISTMAS ADOPT A VET

We have provided thousands of winter coats to needy veterans and children. Through our corporate partnerships, we provided over 3,500 coats in 2021 alone.

Each year, our partner corporations provide Christmas presents for veteran families bringing joy and fun to veteran's children each year across Georgia.

VETERAN & COMMUNITY SUPPORT PROGRAM

We partner with donors and various community organizations to provide food, clothing, furniture, rent assistance, utility bill assistance, and community medical services to veterans and their families.

VA CLAIMS ASSISTANCE

We are very familiar with the VA claims system and the Social Security Administration's SSDI claim system. We partner with experts in these areas and have veteran volunteers who have navigated these systems themselves. This provides a powerful support combination.

VETERAN HOUSING SUPPORT

We help veterans navigate VA programs that can provide access to short-term transitional housing, VA supportive housing, supportive services for veterans with families, per diem, and the 811 program.

AUTO DONATION PROGRAM

We provide donated automobiles to veterans with disabilities to help them with transportation and often to enable them to seek needed employment.

VETERAN HOME REPAIR

Veterans, especially disabled veterans, often have unique housing needs. Our program supports these needs through grants and hands-on work repairing and modifying veteran homes to meet these unique physical needs.

MENTAL HEALTH OUTREACH & HOMELESS VETERANS

Learn about the connections between veteran mental health issues and subsequent homelessness.

FEMALE VETERAN DOMESTIC ABUSE

Learn more about the prevalence of domestic violence against female veterans and responses to this issue.

The Cherokee County Homeless Veteran Program,

(CCHVP) and the Cohutta Chapter of Trout Unlimited have

implemented a free fly-fishing program for disabled and

elderly county veterans.

Swim with the Giants - GA Aquarium program

Journey with Gentle Giants is a thirty-minute SCUBA dive or surface swim in the Ocean Voyager Built by The Home Depot exhibit. Veterans are able to attend through a partnership with the acquarium.

Every dollar we get goes to dramatically improving the lives of homeless veterans in Cherokee County. Skip one meal and invest the funds in the life of an American hero.

Committed Donation $50

We appreciate the sacrifice you are making to show our veterans we appreciate their sacrifices to keep us a free and prosperous nation. Your donation will go a long way.

Premier Donor $100

Your donations help us to continue to improve veterans lives through case management, helping them get benefits through the VA, housing, and much more.

Veteran's Scholarship Fund $100

With this donation, you will be helping fund education and training for homeless veterans to improve their lives through meaningful work leading to self-sufficiency.

Food & Short-Term Housing for 1-Week $400

With this donation level, you will provide food and short-term housing (typically in an extended stay accommodation) for a homeless veteran for a full week while we work to provide longer term stability through additional support and services.

Help a Homeless Veteran Get a Vehicle $500

With this donation, you will be helping fund cars and trucks for veterans to help move them along the path to self-sufficiency.
