Cherokee County Homeless Veterans Program (CCHVP) Launches Veterans Photography Club to Combat Isolation in Veteran Community. Program Flyer
The Cherokee County Homeless Veteran Program,
(CCHVP) and the Cohutta Chapter of Trout Unlimited have
implemented a free fly-fishing program for disabled and
elderly county veterans.
Journey with Gentle Giants is a thirty-minute SCUBA dive or surface swim in the Ocean Voyager Built by The Home Depot exhibit. Veterans are able to attend through a partnership with the acquarium.
Fresh Eyes Photography Program
Cobb Salutes will present the Fresh Eyes Photography Program, in partnership with the Cherokee County Homeless Veterans Program, providing free photography classes for veterans in Cherokee and Pickens counties. Professional photographers will teach camera skills, composition, visual storytelling, and creative practice through group lessons, assignments, and feedback.
The program is designed to reduce social isolation while building participants’ confidence, photography skills, and well-being. Veterans will also create and share work in a public exhibition and help launch a Cherokee County Veterans’ Photography Club, which will offer ongoing opportunities to practice photography, learn from guest artists, and connect with peers.
